Chairman’s Report
Notes from Denton Parish Council meeting 9 June 2011
The Council was advised that work on the playground has been completed
but there are a number of small items that require attention, a ROSPA inspection
is scheduled to be undertaken in June, and the items will completed before then.
It was noted with regret the that the new slide has been vandalised and it is hoped
it can be repaired. A sign is to be errected indicating the age range the playground
is intended for.
The late Ian Smith left a sum of money to the Village for use in the playground and
the Council intend that a seat be placed in the playground area in memory of Ian.
South Northants Council have advised that the triangular portion of land between
the A428 and Bedford Road would not be suitable as a site for affordable housing.
They are looking at other sites in the Village.
The residents af Main Street leading on from Church Way have agreed that they
will take/collect their refuse bins to either the area by the trough or by the post box.
South Northants Refuse collection vehicles will not now drive up the road outside
their houses ensuring that in future the road surface is maintained and no damage
to The Green occurs.
A new sign is to be installed for Orchard Lane the County Council is to determine
where it will be stituated.
The Parish Council have asked that the refuse collectors empty the small “free standing”
bins arround the Village.
Parish Councillor Kevin Hewitson has requested that more Villagers consider “advertising”
their Societies/Clubs activities on the Village web-site since whilst the site is “visited” very
regularly by a wide number of people there is a lack of updated information about activities
in the Village. If you would like any information please do not hesitate to contact Kevin.
Villagers may have read about the street lights being turned off in the Northampton area,
other than lighting on the A428 this measure should not effect Denton Village.
The next Parish Council meeting will be held in Denton Village Hall
