Equity and excellence: Liberating the NHS

The above White paper can be seen at http://www.dh.gov.uk/en/Publicationsandstatistics/Publications/PublicationsPolicyAndGuidance/DH_117353

The paper sets out the Government’s long term view for the NHS and claims to build on the core values and principles of the NHS. Whatever happens it means changes to the way people in our communities are cared for.

A meeting was held on 23rd of September, hosted by the Denton Patients Group and attended by a large number of people, to which Dr Pickering spoke about the implications and scope of the White paper. Dr Pickering urged people to research the  proposed changes during the consultation period and after drawing their own conclusions and, if they felt it necessary, make representation to the government through the appropriate means.

the consultation period ends 11 October 2010

Although only open for business for a couple of weeks now the Red Lion has quickly established its place in our community.  Those of you who have visited already will know of the warm and friendly welcome that awaits from Ian, Pauline and the team as well as fine ales, wines and food.  The redecoration has added a decked area that overlooks the Village Green and provides an excellent vantage point to watch the world go by on a warm summer evening.

The official opening takes place this week – on Thursday actually at 7pm. The invite mentions  complimentary drink (whilst stocks last!) so get there after me please.

Denton Parish Council receives £1000 Community Grant

Rod Jones was successful in his bid for £1000 from the National Grid Employees Community Grant scheme.  Through his work as a Parish Counsellor Rod was eligible to bid for a grant which will support the development of the play area in Denton.  This is great news and means we are that much closer to achieving our target figure and starting work removing the old and damaged play equipment and replacing it with new and  appropriate  facilities. Finally our thanks go to National Grid and their decision to support Rod and awarding the grant.

Have your say about the play area, e-mail us
